SILFI-Guard: An Innovative Fire Fighting System for rolling stock In June 2010, ISE acquired the first major order for the manufacturing and delivery of a complete fire protection system for railway passenger vehicles.
The above activity is relevant to passenger transport vehicles to be put into service on the Turin-Milan line, by the italian railway transport company “ArenaWays”. These coaches will be equipped with every comfort, and with the most innovative on-board electronic systems. For this cutting edge achievement, ArenaWays chose the integrated firefighting system “SILFI-Guard”, developed by ISE under the homonymous research project funded by the Tuscany Regional Authority. The system integrates the most advanced electronic solutions for secure detection and alarm forwarding, already provided by ISE to AnsaldoBreda for vehicles of several Metropolitan platforms around the world, as well as the top class water-mist extinguishing system “AquaTech”, manufactured by the partner company Tema Sistemi s.p.a. from Taranto.
